Trains run roughly every 10 minutes; the monorail station is on the 2nd floor of the domestic terminal.
The ¥1,000 pass makes sense if you're going to hop the monorail all day — airport → hotel → Shuri Castle → Omoromachi → back, that kind of thing. It also gives small discounts at some attractions. But if you're just riding in from the airport and settling in, a single ¥270 fare (or your IC card) is the cheaper move. Do a quick count of your planned rides before you buy.
